It takes three days to set-up the event site which becomes the second largest city in Crow Wing County that Saturday. There are approximately 20\,000 holes pre-drilled for the anglers to choose from. Official information\, tickets\, and current updates can be found at www.icefishing.org. The Brainerd Jaycees are a community and leadership development organization for men and women ages 18-40. Founded in 1939 they have grown to over 130 members in the Brainerd Lakes area. SUMMARY:Fishing For The Cure
DESCRIPTION:Fishing for the Cure\nAnyone who has attended will tell you that the Fishing For the Cure Ice Fishing Challenge is one of the most fun and meaningful fishing tournaments ever! \n \nWe were not able to host our 2024 event because of lack of ice\, and concerns for the safety of all involved. But our 2023 tournament continued with its reputation for being a fun\, family friendly event. We broke our attendance record with 1\,564 people – moms\, dads\, kids\, grandmas\, grandpas\, aunts\, uncles\, cousins\, and many friends – having fun catching fish and watching the leaderboard to see where their name would land on the list of 100 prizes. Altogether\, with support from so many people\, we raised a record $125\,000 at our 2023 tournament! \nPrizes were awarded for the top 50 fish in two fish categories – large fish (Northern and Walleye) and small fish (Crappie\, Perch and Sunfish). The person with the smallest fish that made the leaderboard during the tournament\, won the biggest fish prize! \nThe Fishing for the Cure event honors those who are fighting cancer\, those who have fought cancer and won\, and those who have suffered from cancer and are no longer with us. \n2025 Contest Rules\nThe following rules shall apply to the 2025 Alexandria Industries Ice Fishing Challenge (hereinafter the “Event”)\, scheduled for 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. February 15\, 2025 on Smith Lake (Douglas County) \nSection 1: Rules and Regulations. \nThe rules and regulations set forth herein are the Official Rules (“Rules”) of the Event and the Raffle Drawing\, as that term is defined further below. \nParticipants shall be subject to all applicable licensing requirements\, as well as any local\, state\, and federal laws. Licenses are not sold on the lake. \nThese rules may be changed by Alexandria Industries Charitable Foundation\, a Minnesota non-profit corporation\, or by its delegated agent (hereinafter\, the Event Coordinators”)\, at any time with or without notice to the participants. Interpretation and enforcement of these rules will be left exclusively to the Event Coordinators. In the event of a discrepancy between the printed version and any digital version of the Rules\, the Rules posted on the official website (http://www.fishingforthecure.net/about/official-rules/) at the time of the Event shall prevail. \nBy purchasing a ticket\, and participating in the event\, all participants acknowledge and agree that they have reviewed\, understand\, and will abide by the Rules as posted on our official website. Participants willingly agree to comply with the Rules for participation in the Event. \nSection 2: Event Participation and Eligibility. \n2.1  The contest is scheduled for 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm\, February 15\, 2025 on Smith Lake. Should the contest not be held for any reason on February 15\, 2025\, the event will be cancelled and all proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society. \n2.2  Entry fee for the contest is $30.00 Adults\, $10 kids 12 & under.  (Day of tournament adults $40\, $10 kids 12&under.) Fish caught by one individual and given to another person are not eligible. Any contestant who enters a fish caught by another individual will be immediately disqualified. \n2.6  Must have official entry tag visible to weigh-in fish. \n2.7  All Participants must be in the weigh-in line at or before 3:00 p.m. on the day of the contest. \n2.8.  All fish weighed-in will be released at weigh-in station. \n2.9  Any Participant attempting to manipulate the outcome of the Event or defraud the Event will be disqualified and may be subject to prosecution. \n2.10  Contest results remain unofficial until verified by the head judge. Unofficial results will be posted on a leaderboard on the ice throughout the contest hours. Efforts will be made to keep the board as up-to-date and accurate as possible. When ready\, official results will be posted on our website at www.fishingforthecure.net. \n2.11 The top 100 prizes are determined by largest weight and time registered in two categories. Top 50 for large fish\, walleye\, northern\, and bass. Top 50 in small fish\, crappie\, sunfish\, and perch. In the event of a tie\, the first fish registered takes priority. In the event that all fish categories are not filled\, those prizes will be held for the following year. \nSection 3: Interpretation and Discipline. \n3.1  Participants agree to abide by the Rules and any decisions of the Event Director and/or Event Staff. \n3.2  Interpretation and enforcement of the Rules shall be left to the sole and exclusive discretion of the Event Director and/or his/her designee at the Event. Participants are aware that participating in the Event may subject participants to extremely cold conditions\, which can be dangerous and cause injury if the participant is not properly prepared. Similarly\, the weather may be warmer and cause extraordinarily slippery conditions on the ice. Although particular Rules\, equipment\, and personal discipline may reduce the risks associated with participating in the Event\, the risk of serious injury does exist and cannot be completely eliminated. In the event of significant weather conditions during competition\, the Event Coordinators will advise regarding any change\, delay\, suspension and/or cancellation of one or more hours or day(s). Non-refundable due to weather. \n4.3  Participants are permitted to consume alcoholic beverages while fishing. Participants are aware he/she/they are participating in a physical activity in the sport of fishing on ice\, which may be dangerous and can cause injury\, especially if the participant is consuming alcoholic beverages. Participants understand and acknowledge the consumption of alcohol impairs a person’s ability to walk on all surfaces\, including those that are especially slippery\, like ice. Consuming alcohol and walking on ice subjects the participant to certain risks including\, but not limited to\, death\, serious neck and spinal injuries resulting in complete or partial paralysis\, brain damage\, and/or serious injury to virtually all bones\, joints\, muscles and internal organs\, and property damage. Although particular Rules\, equipment\, and personal discipline may reduce the risks associated with participating in the Event\, the risk of serious injury does exist and cannot be completely eliminated. \n4.4  No firearms will be allowed in Event Site during Event hours\, unless you have an active licensed concealed carry permit or are a credentialed law enforcement officer. \nSection 5: Protests and Disputes. \n5.1  All protests or disputes relating to any matter involving the Rules and/or the Event must be registered in writing with the Event Coordinator no later than 3:15 p.m. the day of the Event. Protests made after the deadline will be disregarded. This section does not apply to reporting suspected cheating. \n5.2  Any protest filed by a Participant shall be heard by the Event Coordinators. After reviewing the protest submitted\, the Event Coordinators’ shall inform the protesting Participant of the Event Coordinator’s decision. The Event Coordinator’s decision is final and not subject to further appeal. \n5.3  The interpretation and enforcement of the Rules will be the sole responsibility of the Event Director. \nSection 6: Other Raffles and Drawings. \n6.1  The contest ticket and random drawing tickets are two separate items. SUMMARY:The 22nd Annual Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament
DESCRIPTION:The 22nd Annual Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament will be on January 14\, 2023. The Ice Expo will be on January 12 and 13\, 2023. \nGuaranteed team registration for the 2023 tournament will open at the end of July and close in mid-August of 2022. Once guaranteed team registration closes\, we will open our lottery. \nIn January of 2001\, the Mobridge Tourism Committee hosted the first ever Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament. With a budget of $800\, the committee was committed to making the event a success. In the beginning\, the tournament had a cap of 50 individuals and the grand prize was a Mr. Heater. The following year the tournament double in size and grew to 50 two-person teams competing for the grand prize of an ice auguer. From there the tournament continued to grow every year as the committee allowed more teams to particpate. \nNow\, more than 20 years later the tournament has grown to be the largest Ice Fishing Tournament in South Dakota at 525 teams of two anglers who compete for more than $225\,000 in cash and prizes. The Annual Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament attracts fisherman from all over South Dakota and the entire Midwest each and every year! \nHow to Fish in the Tournament\nTo reward the teams of anglers who have fished with us from the beginning the commitee allows these teams a guaranteed spot in the tournament. Guarenteed team registration opens every year in mid July and ends in early August. \nThere are a handful of opportunities to gain a guaranteed spot each year. Firstly\, three guaranteed spots are drawn each year for the anglers who participate in our summer fishing tournament the Annual Denny Palmer Memorial Walleye Classic. Additionally\, three guaranteed spots are auctioned off on Ebay each year. Ebay auctioned teams open in late September. Lastly\, we do an annual raffle for a guaranteed spot each year. Tickets for this raffle open in early October\, cost $20 per entry\, and the team is drawn in December. \nLottery Drawing \nOnce guaranteed team registration closes in August all remaining team spots are drawn for. The spots drawn for are non-guarenteed and allow entry into that years tournament only. \nMobridge Ice Fishing Tournament Frequently Asked Questions\n22nd Annual Mobridge Chamber Ice Fishing Tournament FAQs\nHow do I get into the 2023 tournament? \nIf you did not fish the 20th or 21st annual tournaments\, please mark your calendars and watch for the 2024 lottery registration to open in 2023. Once the registration opens\, an entry form will be available on this website and on Facebook for you to submit a FREE entry. The lottery drawing will be in September 2023. Teams chosen in the lottery are a NON-GUARANTEED spot. \nIf you fished the previous year’s annual tournament with a guaranteed spot\, registration for these teams occurs approximately 4 months prior to the upcoming year’s tournament. Guaranteed spot holders receive an email with registration info in August. If you are a guaranteed spot holder and need to change your email address on file\, contact the Mobridge Area Chamber at 605-845-2500 or email chamber@mobridge.org. We do not make calls to guaranteed spot-holders\, so if you have not been receiving our group emails\, make sure to update your info before August. \nI need to change my partner\, how do I do that? \nPartner changes will be open from December 13 – 31. Click Here to submit your partner change. \nWhat is my team number/did I get drawn in the lottery? \nTeam numbers and lottery picks get drawn on September 20\, 2022. The Mobridge Chamber will reach out to lottery winners\, who will then have 3 days to register their team for the 2024 Tournament. \nOnce team numbers are drawn they will be posted online and on our Facebook Page. \nWhat happens if there is inclement weather or a lack of ice? \nIf inclement weather\, there will be no refunds on entry fees. The fishing tournament will be held on that\nSunday. If we are not able to fish on Sunday\, there will be drawings to select prize winners at Scherr-Howe Events Center. \nIf there is UNSAFE ice\, the committee will make the safety call the week of the tournament on whether we will launch teams. Regardless of ice\, the event and raffles will go on\, and the “no-show” rule is still in effect. In the event of a team “no-show” or not checking in at the rules meeting\, that team hereby forfeits the guaranteed spot and any potential prizes indefinitely. \nWill there be an indoor fish cleaning station available? \nYes\, we will have an all-seasons station open at Indian Creek State Park. \nWhen can we check in for the tournament? \nALL teams MUST be checked in prior to the opening of the Bud Light Rules Meeting. This can be done at the Expo on Thursday or Friday Afternoon before the start of the Bud Light Rules Meeting. \nWhen is the expo open? \nThe 2023 Expo is on January 11th (3-7 pm) and January 12th (9 am-3 pm). \nWhen will the doors open for Bud Light Rules Meeting? \nDoors will open at 5:30 pm SHARP Friday night. We will not be allowing any participants in prior to that. \nWhat are the boundaries? \nHere is the map: Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament Boundaries. The south point of Swan Creek and the South Point of Moreau River to the North Point of Shaw Creek. The entire Moreau and Grand Rivers are in bounds. Anything outside of this is out of bounds. \nWhere are the weigh-ins? \nALL anglers must be check-in/weighed in by 7 pm. We will have two check-in spots. For teams NOT weighing fish -we will have a vehicle parked with yellow lights flashing in front of the Coke plant (1701 W Grand Xing). For teams with fish\, we will have scales set up at Beadle Chevrolet (2200 US HWY 12). After anglers have finished weighing their fish\, we will give away prizes and awards at the Scherr-Howe Events Center. \nI cannot find the rules for the tournament\, where are they? \nHere are the 2023 rules https://mobridge.org/tournamentrules
